By Engineers, for Engineers

SKANR will give you fast access to important boiler-specific information, such as CO2 settings, parts, manuals and more. It also allows you to keep a full history of every boiler you have worked on, all in one place, including previous services and repairs. Manufacturer engineers will be able to scan each unique QR code and access all this information too, which will be useful for manufacturer warranty claims.

And there we have it - 1 month of coding and SKANR is officially a thing! From a simple idea 3 years ago to a working website. There is still a lot more to be tweaked and added but at present we have...

◉ Over 1000 QR codes added into the database

◉ 190 boilers and counting pre-loaded into the site, including CO2 levels for them all, which can be accessed even without a sticker

Gas rate calculator to convert meter readings into kWh Net and kWh Gross

Search function - find previous jobs using your Gas Safe number (with a read-only version of the page so people can't edit your saved data)

All of these have been included to make your lives easier when it comes to servicing and installing boilers. As a self-employed gas engineer, I am fully aware of the amount of apps out there attempting to do this. With the new Part L regulations and boiler manufacturers getting stricter on warranty repairs, it sometimes feels like us engineers need to record how many breaths we have taken while working on a boiler (won't be adding this as a feature!). Hopefully SKANR will simplify this whole process and save us all a lot of time and energy.

We are currently working hard behind the scenes to get this launched. The idea originated back at the beginning of COVID-19 when I (a Gas Engineer) was fed up of trawling through MI's, and trying to find manuals on the internet to make sure I had the correct CO2 settings for a specific boiler. One day I went to a boiler where someone had written the CO2 readings on the front of the case in Sharpie and just thought, "there has to be a better way to do this".

SKANR allows you to simply scan a QR code stuck on the boiler which will bring up all the information you need.

It will also eventually include things like common faults for each boiler, and much more.

The way things are going with energy prices, it's more important than ever to service boilers correctly and ensure they're as efficient as they can be.

Check back soon for more updates.

Cheers
